Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriter in our Vancouver Branch. In this position, you will underwrite and prepare quotes for a wide variety of policies by reviewing related information and determining the acceptability of commercial risks. The underwriter also provides technical direction and guidance to Policy Service Clerks and plays an integral and active role in building relationships with our brokers.

What you bring to this role

• High School graduation with completion of 6 CIP courses and 2 to 3 years of experience in both Personal and Commercial Lines insurance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Good working knowledge of Personal and Commercial Lines underwriting techniques, guidelines, forms, coverage and rates
• Proven ability to make sound underwriting judgements
• Good analytical skills
• Working knowledge of reinsurance procedures and methods.
• Good customer relations skills and the ability to establish a good working relationship with brokers
• Good written and verbal communications skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to operate related computer applications
• Good knowledge and understanding of the marketplace for Commercial Insurance

Salary Group 7: $55,297.99 - $64,734.31
